Sandra + Fernando Wedding Santiago Chile

Sandra and Fernando are a super kool couple with a great sense of style. Our preperation shots began at there beautifull home in Santiago where the home was divided into two specific areas of preparation to avoid seeing each other before the ceremony.  Put with shooting the prep I take thtime to try to catch some personal elements of significance around there home. Using these awsome puzzle coasters and their favorite and often used chess set I loved the idea of this day being the final part of the puzzle bringing them togther so I came up with this image below..I was so happy when they understood its meaning and enjyed the fact it was using their everyday things

Originally Sandra had spoken about prep in a hotel but the huge mirror she has at home and the natural light won without a doubt

 Arriving at the church Santiago was at its best in the background with the sun assisting to enhance the view

I also really like this shot of their rings...simple, clean and all round nice

 and...as always with me....THE SHOESs but this time in use

 while thist is in the wrong position in this post i love the movement nd the expression just as the bride enters the Church parking lot

and with the deed done the happy couple start the evening with huge smiles

Time for a quick portrait before heading to the event centre in a very cool car

 The open top BMW shot through the streets of Santiago as Mauricio stood out through the roof of the weddingphotochile truck. For this shot I used the red light to take advantage of a shoot opportunity.

Then off the speed  !!!

Michele + Marcelo , Valparaiso, Chile 23 Oct 2010

I think this is the most images I have ever posted from one wedding from Chile and believe me I felt like posting 20 more. Michele and Marcelo are a very cool couple and I was so happy when we met again last week at their chosen location for Micheles bridal preparation , a fantastic little hotel in Valparaiso called Hotel Acontraluz. Meeting Michele there at 3pm started off the beautiful sunny day perfectly.

So...time to get ready.......

I always love the eye work shots but it scares the pants off me...pokey things and eyeballs...yikes !!



While Michele is occupied its a great time to steal the dress and shoes and get busy in this very funky location

I just know I am going to get my usual shoe fettish comments on my FACEBOOK but hey...what can i say..

NOW thats enough Gardner !!!...go get the dress........

The multiple balconies and staircases in this location made for some great lines

Return dress to Michele and its time to get the wheels turning...I'm sure this was a quick call to Marcelo

A quick walk down 2 sets of stairs and then we hit the street...Its Valpo...Its the Law when shooting weddings here.

 Nearly there Michele....watch those heels....just before going out I wanted to catch a quick shot of the wonderfull bouquet on the fantastic old piano in the hotel lobby

OK no more time for this...gotta get some street shots done before tearing off to Vina del mar to catch some shots of Marcelo getting ready at home....so to the street...

Michele just looks amazing...so deal with it...

I know Michele loves Valparaiso...but I think Valparaiso loves Michele too

A wonderfull ceremony as the sun sets through the doors..with the deal sealed...

It got really windy and cold...we had to move fast..

Returning to the cocktail then onto dinner where one of Micheles friends made a short but touching speech.

Now it's time to get on with the show...first up...Girls...time to take your pick !!

A picture paints a thousand words...talk is cheap!

Yes it never ceases to amaze me in these digital days how much smoke some so called professional wedding photographers try to blow up the pants of their prospective clients. The primary weapon of the non Pro wedding photographer is the BLOG. Using this device they interlink with friends, family and other like (shallow) minded wedding photographers to ensure that the images they post have a stream of comments telling everyone how amazing and gifted they are a photographer. Many of the images are laughed at by the qualified pros and God forbid you try to post constructive critisizm…it never passes the moderation filter.

If the images are so fantasticly awe inspiring and amazing then they speak for themselves no? A picture paints a thousand words and talk is cheap, I believe these are common trains of thought.
To anyone considering wedding photography I send you a warning not to be sucked in by a stream of people posting praise on a blog…its maybe not what it seems!. You will see regular patterns of the same people posting on every photo and blog post with the same “Öh my God” kinda comments.

Obvously you have to like what you see but remember what you see is probibly 2% of what the client recieves and your probibly seeing the best of.. so you have to REALLY LIKE what you see to pursue that photographer.

The shameless photographers and BLOG posters know who they are and are welcome to comment here and throughout my blog. I feel they should respect the intelegence of the people looking for service providers and not play this game. It is the game of the non professional in this industry.

Legal Wrangles between Brides and Photographers USA style

Attached are 3 videos for your enjoyment. if your planning to get married and use the services of a wedding photographer have a look at these. While I believe these to be down to pure stupidity there are some good points made that will serve to caution both brides and photographers alike.

Barbara and Cristian 23 April 2010 Fotografo Matrimonios Santiago

Barbara and Cristian have waited a long time for this day and after having to change the date and location after the earthquake here in Chile they wer glad to finally see all the hard work come together.

Club Campo Penelalon, Santiago.. With a great view over the city.

The sun was setting fast and this wedding was a night shoot. Somewhat limiting for fine art artistic shots. It always bamboozles me why people would choose to get married in the dark when chile has some of the most bueatiful sunny days year long.

Barbaras dress was a true classic with many many fine details which are shown in the clients private image set

Ahhh the shoes...caught them in some natural light...my fav

In the setup salon we had a little problem with electricity, never mind theres always power behind the bar. In all my years its the first time I have shot the Novia and her team getting made up behind a bar ..  very different and kinda cool

after the ceromony the spotlight hit the couple at the top of the stairs as they left tostart some private shooting while the guests cocktailed.

As we were so high up above the city it was really cold and poor Barbara...we had to move fast

all the kisses were keeping her warm

WOW  the biggest confetti bomb I've ever seen at a wedding...scared the pants right off me

dancing around the mothers just before the guys move in to lift and throw them around...

and the brides mother is hoisted into the air with terror...i love her expression in this shot...too funny

Ahh the sister catches the flowers...A fix possibly !!??!!

and finally....as this was the last wedding of the main season, mauricio and I found time for some stupidity

just couldn't pass on the chance.
